Preoperative Surgery Planning

Once you decide to discuss having robotic surgery with Dr. Neef, all you have to do is call or email the office.  His staff will connect with you and start the planning process.  Patients seeking sterilization reversal procedures will need to obtain their operative report from the doctor who performed their sterilization as well as any pathology reports to determine the likelihood of successful reversal.  Hysterectomy patients need to have a recent pelvic ultrasound and most recent pap report.  Some patients will be given an in-person appointment while others may be able to visit with the doctor virtually depending on the patient’s problems and/or location.

When you meet our expert robotic surgeon Dr. Neef, he will talk about your problems and discuss his recommendations for surgery.  He will discuss risks/benefits/indications/alternatives for the planned procedure and together the two of you will make the decision to have surgery.  Once the preoperative appointment is complete, surgical consents will need to be signed either in person or electronically.  Before scheduling your surgery, all financial obligations must be met.  Tubal reversal and Essure reversal surgeries are NOT covered by insurance.  These payments must be paid by the patient directly.  Total cost for reversal surgery is $6000.  This covers the entire procedure, anesthesia and hospital costs.  Hysterectomies ARE covered by most insurance companies when performed for the appropriate diagnosis.

Once surgery is scheduled, a member of the preop staff will contact you to discuss consent forms, plans for anesthesia and to give you specific arrival time and place on your day of surgery.
