Risk of Surgery
All types of surgeries have risks including robotic surgery. The overall rate of these risks is very low overall, but Dr. Neef wants to ensure that his patients are fully informed. General risks of all surgery include bleeding, infection, blood clots, allergic reactions, anesthetic risks and death. Specific risks for these pelvic surgeries include damage to bowel/bladder/vessels/nerves.
Unfortunately, there no guarantee that the tubal or Essure reversal surgery will be successful. Sometimes there in not enough tube to reconnect, sometimes scarring occurs and sometimes women are unable to become pregnant after their procedure. Sometimes ectopic/tubal pregnancies can occur after reversal procedures.
